Is our staple food as healthy as you think?

Are you the person who prefers the white polished rice rather than the unpolished one? Then this article is for you.White rice is the staple food of almost 70% of the Indians. But,is the rice we are eating is as healthy as it claims for? To know more, keep reading.
The grain we harvest from the field undergoes several steps of processing before becoming the shiny white rice that we get in the markets. This process does not involve any chemical treatments or addition of additives but still it makes it unhealthy.Let's see why!
The grain usually consists of three parts:the bran, the germ and the endosperm. White rice refers to the milled rice that has its husk ,bran and germ removed. Unfortunately, they are the most nutritious part of the grain. The bran contains antioxidants, vitamins and fiber. The germ contains Vitamin B,proteins and healthy fats. The endosperm part which is retained has nothing but carbohydrates and some vitamins.
People usually prefer to buy those polished shiny ones than the dull ones,be it any grain rice or millet or corn.It is the reason why rice polishing has become popular. But the people are unaware of the fact that
"The more shinier your rice is,the less healthier it is"
On the contrary,we have another variety of rice called Brown rice which retains all the bran, germ and endosperm. Therefore, packed with  all the nutrients. It has more antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
It requires much less processing when compared to white rice.
The less processed brown rice is costlier while the more processed and polished white rice is cheaper and available easily.Ironical, right? This is where we need to understand the fact that "The healthier ones are always costly"The same fact applies to organic vegetables compared to those treated with pesticides.
Benefits of consuming Brown Rice:
  • Brown rice reduces the risk of diabetes and helps to lower blood sugar levels
  • It is rich in fiber and magnesium
  • It also has higher lower Glycemic index compared to white rice which is the major reason for causing diabetes.
  • It contains powerful antioxidants.
  • It does not makes you gain weight.
  • It reduces the risk of heart disease and obesity.

BYE BYE 2020

Hey guys, Today I am going to open up about something that was stuck in my mind for quite a long time. So, wanna pour it out before it's too late:)) 2020 is about to end. We are in the last few days of 2020 and it is not just like any other year in our life. For some people,it was happy as they got a break from their mundane life. And for some other it was not so good as they expected it to be at the beginning of the year ( smiling in pain ) due to Covid. But, 2020 definitely taught us a lot of lessons in this lockdown. We are not the same person as we were at the start of the year.  So, before getting excited for the New year, let's ask these questions to ourselves. Are you ready for 2021? A whole new year is waiting for you. Are you ready to face it? Are you going to bring about a change in your life in 2021 or you are going to pass it just like any other year!! Before talking about the mindset and goals for 2021, let's sit and look back into 2020!! So, now stop scrolling...

Your Mental Health is Important

There is a saying that 'You are your first friend and enemy all through your life. There is so much life in that words. In every person, no matter how good he  is, has  a little demon residing in him which directs him towards evil thoughts.       Yeah!! It's tough time now. We are living a life far from the normal. Man is a social  animal. We  always like to get surrounded by people. We are used to it. But now, we are meant to be  alone. We  have to distance ourselves from others. But that doesn't mean that you should ignore everyone and live in isolation.   STAY DISTANCED BY PERSON BUT CONNECTED BY HEART.       In this quarantine life, we are all buried into our mobile phones/other gadgets. You may feel that it's the only way to connect to people now. But, it's equally important to take care of yourselves.  Self-care  is the need of the hour. Take time to embrace yourself. Your one word of appreciation to your m...
